More Fall

There is a book called Write it Down Make it Happen. Also got a book from Amazon called the Creative Entrepreneur. Well in Write it Down Make It Happen its all about focusing and making a game plan to get to your goals/dreams. This new book seems to be about the saame but journaling to become a professional artist. I know if you can do you art for your living this may sounds old hat, but for someone like me who's been teaching for 24 years and a few months and who would love to do art full time, I think its time for that game plan. I know the study from Harvard where they say people who recorded their goals reached them and made way more money. Its not just about the cash to me-although making enough to live on would be great. Not sure about the insecurity of not having a regular paycheck and health insurance, but love the idea of being able to poke all day in my studio and getting to be on my own schedule more frequently that one does as a school etacher really tied to the school calendar. Well, we'll see.
Check out these cool milkweed photos I took in the yard Saturday.

A few more views of fall

Some views I took yesterday while I was out in the backyard. Another weekend buzzed right by-this week is the last week of the quarter already. Wow! Dave turns 48 this week and Katie turns 17 this week. Wow! Time does fly right by.

Friday-Hurrah

I love Fridays and knowing I have the whole weekend ahead of me. I love Fridays when I do something fun after work-Katie and I went shopping at TJMaxx and Target after her oral surgeon appointment. Love the cool photo I took last Saturday morning of the moon too.
Happy Weekend everyone.

Chilly

After some rain the cold wind moved in. BRRR. And its not even 7 pm and its so dark and feels like its 8 or 9 pm. HIBERNATION MODE! Thought I'd actually be homeright after work tday but Katie had to go back and get her teeth checked today-a partial dry socket due to some food getting in there- and she's back again tomorrow-but the poor kids hasn't been able to sleep. That's ok, but I get home and who feels ambitous to do any art. I did switch my shoes around though and put most of the sandals away since they're talking snow in the mountains tonight-luckily not here!
So don't feel too bad about not doing any art this week as I spent Sunday finishing Katie's advent calendar-photos to come once she can't take a peek as its for her birthday next week- and I spent all day Saturday making jewelry. Tonight I came home and did look through some boxes of stamps and put soem stamps away-which is fun too as I get to be near my stamps.
Here is some photos of my Alice in Wonderland book that I made at my book class a few weeks back. It came out great-though I had to work to combine colors to pull it all together. Enjoy, stay warm and hope night and fall is not closing in around you as much as it is me.

Some Art To View-Finally

Last Saturday I took an intro to metal clay class with Marissa O'Brien and I made these great charms. Not the greatest photos since they're just laying on a paper towel and not artistically arrnaged, but it was a fun class. Now I want to buy more clay and get a kiln-me and my big ideas and my empty wallet (what with a Paris trip coming up in February and all), but these will make some great holiday gifts, plus I kept 1 or 2 for me too. I used patina on some of these with liver of sulfur, and should do some more since I have that at home already. Would love to learn some more in advanced classes too.
Anything to use my rubber stamps!

Is it time for a change

Like the changing of the seasons-fall is progressing and moving into late color here-the oak leaves are starting to turn and we are getting some bare trees. Ah Halloween is near.
Like the changing of the seasons-I am wondering if it is again time for a career change- to focus on my art, not everyone elses kids. I love my job, don't get me wrong, but I go into phases when I think about making my art my first focus. Wish I could afford to.
Katie had her teeth out today, she's sitting with an ice pack wrap over her head to keep down the swelling, but she's not doing badly I think. She and I watched the ABBA movie we bought last summer this afternoon-it was great. Now we're watching the Prestige again. Its another good flick.
Been reading Twightlight. It was ok for the first 50 pages but then it got good-as I discovered sitting in the oral surgeon waiting room this morning. I can see why everyone at work is talking about it and reading all 4 in the series.
Tomorrow I am off to my metal clay class. Wonder if Katie will go take the PSAT's or if she'll just stay home and relax.
Happy weekend ahead.

A photo

Got a photo today and although its a great photo (thanks Diane) I look huge and middle aged. Augh! Time for some serious dieting...came home and poor Harley had some pooping sickness...feel bad for him but it was everywhere...and I had to clean it up...oh man...listen to me complain.

Anyhow, how about some more cool fall photos.I love fall. I love the colors. Pumpkins, halloween is a blast, its a great reading time of year...come home, put the pjs on after work and relax...that's how I feel tonight. Have a big cuppa of tea...oh yeah.

And poor Katie is so nervous getting her teeth out tomorrow. I think it will be ok though. We wish her good luck!

A cool fungus among us

Some cool photos from some logs laying out in the woods in the front of my house.
End of Project Runway tonight-HOPE I can stay awake because I really want to know who wins.
Tomorrow is my last day of work this week since Katie is getting her wisdom teeth out on Friday. Poor Katie, but I will say I am looking forward to another day off just to break up the routine.
Saturday I have my metal clay class which should be a lot of fun.
I really need a haircut.
I need to finish my art quilt to send into Sew Somerset or their art quilt issue. Not sure the due date.
I need to finish my Halloween book before Halloween. Wouldn't you love me to take some photos for you to see?
Not much else here tonight and I've been helping Katie study for her anatomy test tomorrow. So much for typing up a zoology test...I need to run mine off for Friday and the sub. Maybe I'll be at work really late tomorrow. Watching Ghost Hunters on Sci Fi- I could never do that job I am such a coward!
Babble, babble, babble-blah-blah-blah!

Fall is really here

Some photos from yesterday morning that I took after my walk. From then on, the day kind of went downhill-Dave not finding the charger he was looking for, Katie mad at me because I got the phone she wanted, our steaks being kind of tough...and me, feeling very stressed with all of this going on. Saturday went to Mom's for her birthday and today I painted an advent calendar box for Katie, poked around the house...much much better day.
But I must say, it wasn't a terrrible weekend. Finished my Alice in Wonderland Star book-its great, finished reading my Bill bryson Notes from a Small Island and started Twilight...haven't gotten very far.
Went to the Aquarium last Thursday was my zoology class/and deb's class too, and we had a great day with lunch of Quincy Market. Friday was a teacher work day-a waste actually, and tomorrow I'm off to Nashua for a guest lecturer named Sam Rhines...need a little break.
Anyhow, that's about all here. Been busy, need a vacation really, but can't believe this weekend has flown by SOOOOOOOO fast.

AUGH!

The clutter in my studio is getting to me. The cost of living is getting to me. I need to sell 90% of my craft stuff to make room. I don't want to sell any of it. I wish I had a huge space to work in so I could keep all my stamps. I love my rubber stamps. I am addicted to my rubber stamps. I want to get my bank account under control too...I need an influx of some cash...extra cash...should I get a second job? Then I could afford to fix up my studio and I could have enough space...ARGH!

Crisp and cool

Having a fire to take the evening chill off since I yet to refuse to pay for heat...and its been chilly all day-don't think the house has gotten over 65, except in the studio it was very toasty...worked on my Hallowen book and played around doing a few Christmas cards-never too early to think of that.
Replanted the flowers Dave had to dig up yesterday when we needed to dig out our water line, but it was so lucky there a guy available who lived nearby and it only cost a little over $300 instead of thousands which I expected. All day at school kept thinking my whole garden was dug up and the deck pulled off...so thankful for the way it worked out.
Katie and I saw Eagle Eye yesterday after school-was a really good movie. Didn't expect the presidental part and the computer part...go see it if you haven't already.
Decided that I am going to do a cross country vacation either this sumemr or next and take Katie...every kid should go on one-though I never did- and since Katie's day as my kid at home is getting shorter and since I want to do that...told Katie she and I will do the backpack through Europe when she's older...we'll take the train though we won't carry backpacks, that's for sure.
Glad she likes to travel...hope she's willing to always go with me...
